MISS AMANDA

owner

I have been working with preschool-age children for the past 17 years. I hold a Montessori teacher’s diploma, an Early Childhood Education certificate, a First Aid certificate, and many hours of professional development workshops.

Dr. Maria Montessori said, “You must find the work that satisfies your spirit.” This work fulfills my spirit every day. I am blessed to be able to guide the children and assist them in finding their strengths and capabilities. Seeing the world through a young child’s eyes is incredible as they excitedly Discover the Joy of Learning.

Outside of preschool, my interests include being in nature and spending time with my family, including my two children. I also enjoy moments of silence with a fresh cup of coffee.

Thank you for choosing Discover Montessori to be a part of your child’s first school experience. I look forward to nurturing and watching each child develop their personalities and identities and mature physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially.

MISS JODI

lead teacher

I graduated from Stenberg College in 2016 with my Early Childhood Education Certificate and have since worked in various childcare settings. Each day working with children fulfills me in a way unlike anything else. I strive to facilitate children’s discovery, creativity, and achievement of their developmental milestones. I feel very fortunate to be teaching at Discover Montessori Preschool, as I appreciate the calm and nurturing learning environment, and my co-teachers greatly inspire me.

Aristotle writes a quote that I deeply resonate with: “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”

You may find me hiking, attending a yoga class, or immersed in a novel in my spare time.

Warmly,
Jodi

Program and General Program Policies

Classes are scheduled to begin the 2nd week of September and end the 3rd week of June. Our class times are 8:45am-11:45am and 12:30pm-3:30pm. Our 3-hour daily class schedule is as follows: Meet & Greet Opening Circle (15 mins) share in conversations, read a short story, discuss daily personal goals, introduce a new activity, sing a song, and participate in a carpet activity.

Individual work, group work, or small group Montessori lessons (80 mins) is an uninterrupted work cycle. Snack Time (20 mins). Organized outside activities, nature walks(45 mins). Closing Circle (20 mins) stories, talking & listening, discussing upcoming classes, hand out work.

Our daily schedule provides a basic framework for our days but is not rigid. Rigidity in a program offers its own set of problems. When children are especially engrossed in their work or activity demands a few additional minutes, adjusting the schedule to accommodate the child is beneficial.
