MISS AMANDA

owner

Hello, my name is Miss Amanda Raymond, and I am the owner and operator at Discover Montessori  preschool. I have been working with preschool-age children for the past 15 years. I hold a  Montessori teacher’s diploma, and Early Childhood Education certificate, 1st Aid certificate and  have many hours of professional development workshops. Dr. Maria Montessori said, “You must  find the work that satisfies your spirit.” This work satisfies my spirit daily. I am blessed to be  able to guide the children as they grow. It’s incredible to see the world through a young child’s  eyes as they excitedly discover the joy of learning. My interests outside of the preschool are  spending time with my family, which includes my two children. I also enjoy nature and moments  of silence with a fresh cup of coffee.

MISS JULIE

lead teacher

I graduated and obtained my government license to practice within our province in early 2000. I am a member of our local Community Services Childcare and Referral program which allows me to keep current with professional development. I am an advocate of the protection of our planet and love teaching children the importance of being mindful of the environment. Simple everyday practices at an early age promotes a healthy respect for our earth. While living on the West Coast, I met and married my husband, we share two daughters and a dog named Sam. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, spending time with my family, traveling around our beautiful province, and capturing pictures along the way.

MISS OLE

teacher

Hello, my name is Miss Ole. I received my Early Childhood Education Assistance Certificate in Alberta in 2013, and I have many years of experience working with children of every age. I also work as a Supervisor Assistant at an Elementary School.
I have two incredible sons and love spending time with my children. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy going for a walk and experiencing nature. I like painting, soap making, and crocheting.
I am happy to be part of Discover Montessori with Miss Amanda and the team. We welcome you and your children, and we hope they have a great year !!!

MISS ALMA

teacher

I enjoy working with children and enjoy being part of their lives where I have an opportunity to help them grow physically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally through play and fun educational activities. From year to year, I gain more knowledge and experience in Child Care. I have graduated from the University of Fraser Valley and received an ECE certificate in April 2020. I did my practicum hours in both daycare and preschool settings and enjoyed working with other staff members and parents on our mutual goals of helping children grow to their full potential.

Program and General Program Policies

Classes are scheduled to begin the 2nd week of September and end the 3rd week of June. Our class times are 8:45am-11:45am and 12:30pm-3:30pm. Our 3-hour daily class schedule is as follows: Meet & Greet Opening Circle (15 mins) share in conversations, read a short story, discuss daily personal goals, introduce a new activity, sing a song, and participate in a carpet activity.

Individual work, group work, or small group Montessori lessons (80 mins) is an uninterrupted work cycle. Snack Time (20 mins). Organized outside activities, nature walks(45 mins). Closing Circle (20 mins) stories, talking & listening, discussing upcoming classes, hand out work.

Our daily schedule provides a basic framework for our days but is not rigid. Rigidity in a program offers its own set of problems. When children are especially engrossed in their work or activity demands a few additional minutes, adjusting the schedule to accommodate the child is beneficial.
